Running away meant leaving everything behind – trading a comfortable family life in a nice neighbourhood, close to family and friends, and community involvement, for a life on the run – in hiding, afraid, saving every penny. It was necessary, no question; but it was tough. Super-strict immigration policies in France precluded David from working so they had to rely on savings, a small business residual, and the generosity of family and friends.
The Foundation raises money to support the family – because the same government bureaucracies that forced the family to flee in the first place now bombards them with overwhelming force. The police, government and courts are embarrassed and angry, and they are doing everything possible to grind the family into dust. Most important, the girls need a fresh start, to get out from under. They need all the help they can get. Please give generously.
